Similes and Metaphor

Metaphor- a figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance

Simile- a figure of speech in which two unlike things are explicitly compared, as in “she is like a rose.” Compare metaphor.

Metaphor:

1.       “My cheeks are on fire”- p 51

2.       “My father’s voice is an ax”-p 54
3. " Just so you know: shame is five fingered"- p 54
4. "... that smooth, cool voice falls into my ear."- p 61
5. "... the one who will lead us through war, our general, our white knight?"- p 60

Simile:

1.       “It comes out in a thick clump, drifts down to the carpet like a small blizzard”- p 67

2.       “ My throat closes like the shutter of a camera, so that any air or excuses must move through a tunnel as thin as a pin”-  p 54
3. "I turn around slowly, tears springing to my eyes." -p 66
4." The information is endless, a series of darts thrown so fast I cannot feel them sting anymore."- p 63

My opinion
When the book uses metaphors and similes, I think that it explains the book way more. It gives a chance for the reader to make a connection to the story. Using metaphors they can tell what people sound like and look like but similes they can see how their feelings are like. 

Somebody's Keeper

Somebody's Keeper

I consider myself somebody’s keeper. I think I’m my friend Ellie’s keeper. We are practically best friends and we look out for each other all the time. We have a great relationship that grows each day and I just try my best to look out for her. She loves how I look out for her and I hope to continue this.

My Sister's Keeper

Jodi Picoult has made a lot of good books. She studied creative writing at Princeton and she had stories published. She was a writer for the Wall Street brokerage firm. Almost everybody has loved her books. She has been given a lot of awards for her books. She also wrote for a comic book series. Her book called “ My Sister’s Keeper” had gotten turned into a movie. She now lives with her husband and has three kids.

The Book: Anna has had many surgeries that would help her fight leukemia. She is trying to find out who she is while looking out for her sister, Kate.

Expectations:

I expect that this book should be very interesting and should have a lot of “ups and downs”.

The "In's and Out's" of escaping

My first reaction to their escaping of the real world was surprised. how could you leave your family, your home and you belongings like that? its a bad idea overall and they should thought more about it. their adventures were defiantly not worth it. they all went crazy trying to get out of the real world and it has destroyed their pesonallities. I dont think i would want to try to survive in the wild, its going to be so lonely and boring. you wouldnt have a lot of resources to chose from. i would miuis the company mostly of other people. you wouldnt do anything out there it wold just be you and the animals. i mean yeah its good to get away for a little bit but not for a big portion of your life. thats my point of view on this whole thing.

 The Place I want to Go

The place I want to visit most in the united states is Bozemen, Montana  The population of Bozmen is 37,280 and it is the county seat of Gallatin County. I think the place is beautiful and the weather is great. It can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. There is so much history there and the land is breathtaking. The city is known as “ Big Sky Country” and the name of it explains how the mountains just complement the sky at night. The Montana river is flowing near Bozemen. I think I would want to go there during the winter so I could see all the snow that would cover the area. And Bozemen has a college in in and its Montanna University so it would be good to see some sporting events while I visit Bozemen. The first post office was built in 1915 and it was named an all- American city in 2001. The population of Bozemen is growing a lot and it is growing in city ranks in the state of Montana.

The rich history is very interesting. Named after John Bozemen, he opened the Bozman trail off the Oregon trail. But the first occupants of it were native Americans of the tribes  the Shoshone, Nez Perce, Blackfeet, Flathead, Crow Nation and Sioux. I would love to go to Bozeman, Montanna it would be awesome.
