4.     4  222 pages
5.      5  9

Question 4: I rated this book a 9 because the book is very well written. The only reason I didn’t rate the book a 10 is because the book is very hard at hooking young readers, but I loved the book. Hemingway describes everything very well. The book follows multiple characters and his writing style followed each one with great detail as the main character did. He explains the whole plot within 300 pages and I felt like the story could go on with some more stories but he did a great job at containing it with 222 pages. Hemingway has a lot of great work but this is one of his best, he is always known for writing short books and still having a solid plot within them. The great thing about the book is that it’s based in Paris, France and Hemingway lived there too. A cool thing that happened to this book is that Hollywood wanted to create this into a movie. He describes Jake’s love with Lady Brett Ashley so well. Jake gets into a lot of trouble with women and he had multiple love affairs. Cohn who is the boxer has a lot of good parts in this book, and he gets into a fight with Jake, Mike, and Romero. He ends up injuring them because all four of them love Brett and they fight over her. This shows that Hemingway could keep up with all four of them and still have as much detail as he started with only Cohn and Jake. The plot of the story is very kind of hard to follow, this is another reason I rated this a 9. That is why this book is hard to hook young readers. He does such a great job following the people but it could get very confusing how he switched from each character. Other than that he does a great great job of detailing this book and the theme is very approaite. I also love this because he writes the book that is based in the 1920s and in the 1920s American culture started to expand into Paris. Jake was an American journalist living in Paris at the time and he was covering a boxer during the parade of bulls. I also love the ending it is very good because he didn’t give into any lead about maybe continuing this book he just ended it with a great ending.
